What if we told you that 2006 study showed turmeric was more effective at preventing joint inflammation and reducing joint inflammation than NSAIDs!
Turmeric was like that annoying whisper that I just couldn't escape. That was when I went online and started doing my own research about this "miracle spice". Almost instantaneously after I typed the word "Turmeric" into my Google search engine I was bombarded by all the health benefits of this "spice of life": Turmeric and Curcumin. I was even more surprised to learn that most of these results were from credible and respected sources such as Cancer.org and The University of Maryland Medical Center as well as many renown doctors. It was then that it occurred to me; the realization that almost every child dreads- mom was right!
Now, a bit about me before I continue my rant. I. HATE. PAIN! From headaches, to muscle aches, to severe menstrual cramps. I have incredibly low tolerance for pain, so I am your prime example of a "pill popper". No, not the bad kind of pills you probably are thinking... just over the counter pain medicines like NSAID pain relievers and ibuprofen. I was getting to the point where I would be taking 3 to 4 pills at a time, several times a day. Now before you start to frown at me with discontent, I do understand the health risks of taking that many pills at a time. That was precisely what sparked my fascination with Turmeric and Curcumin in the first place. It offered the pain relief I had been desperately in need of without all of the side effects and health risks of drugs because it is all natural!
As my fascination grew, I started looking more and more into Turmeric and Curcumin and absorbing everything I was learning about his miracle spice! The more educated I got about Turmeric, the more excited I became. I wanted to go out and get some for myself! Heck, I wanted to get some for all the loved ones in my life! The only catch was with all the research I had been doing I quickly learned that naturally, Turmeric is difficult to be absorbed into the bloodstream by our body.
In order to increase the bio-availability, or absorption, of Turmeric and Curcumin an ingredient such as black pepper must be present. Some studies have shown that the presence of black pepper can increase the absorption of Turmeric by up to 20%. A Turmeric or Curcumin supplement that contains black pepper was practically impossible to find in any store and very rare to come across even online.
That was when my relationship with Turmeric was began. I wanted to offer my close friends and family a product that I trust and knew was effective.
The only way I was going to do that was to come up with my own supplement. It took a lot of hard work and even more time but I eventually got the formula that I was happy with and even took it a step further by ensuring the highest quality with an all natural, organic product without any preservatives or fillers encased in an all vegetarian capsule. If I was going to do this, it was going to be done right!
Hence, Me First Living's Turmeric Curcumin with Black Pepper was born!
