Using Turmeric For Anti-Inflammatory Purposes

Inflammation is an extremely crucial part of the body’s natural defense system when it senses injury or infection.  It is the body’s way of fighting off foreign invaders, as well as repairing damages. Without an inflammation response, our bodies are susceptible to pathogens that could take over and potentially cause irreparable damage.

Acute (short-term) Inflammation is a sign that the body is naturally trying to heal itself. Once the trauma is under control, the immune cells leave the site of injury and everything goes back to normal.

However, Chronic (long-term) Inflammation is more problematic as the immune cells are unable to be switched off and become uncontrollable, attacking the body’s cells and destroying tissue which can eventually lead to several chronic diseases and conditions such as cancers, rheumatoid arthritis, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, metabolic syndrome, and various degenerative conditions.

Using Turmeric As An Anti-Inflammatory

This is when having a potent anti-inflammatory is important  and necessary. Curcumin is one of the strongest anti-inflammatories found in nature by successfully targeting inflammatory pathways at the molecular level. It is so effective that it has been proven in studies to be just as effective as some anti-inflammatory drugs without the negative side effects.
