Turmeric root powder is naturally high in oxalates. Oxalates are compounds that can bind with calcium in the body and, in some individuals, contribute to kidney stone formation.
This is particularly relevant for adults over 45, individuals with a history of kidney stones, or those already consuming a high-oxalate diet that includes foods like spinach, almonds, or beets.
The issue is that many turmeric supplements are made with basic whole-root turmeric powder. Published turmeric powder data has shown whole turmeric root powder containing approximately 1.96% oxalate by weight. That means a 500 mg whole-root turmeric powder capsule could contain close to 9.8 mg of oxalate.
Me First Living takes a cleaner, more targeted approach.
Instead of using ordinary whole-root turmeric powder, we use a standardized turmeric root extract and verify it with lab testing. Our HPLC test showed only: 0.49 mg oxalic acid per capsule.
That is approximately 20x lower than a comparable 500 mg whole-root turmeric powder capsule based on the published turmeric powder benchmark.
Even better, our result is more than 50x below the commonly referenced low-oxalate threshold of 25 mg per serving.
So while no turmeric product should be called “oxalate-free,” Me First Living Turmeric gives customers a more transparent, oxalate-conscious way to take turmeric daily.
